 DANIMA Tech Tips:
DANIMA News Sponsors How to get rid of those annoying Spam Pop Up messages.

This tip will help those using Windows 2000 & XP. If you use high-speed internet access (who doesn't?) and you've noticed pop-up advertising messages appearing as you surf, completely out of the blue, chances are you have a feature enabled on your system that can be disabled and can get rid of this problem.

1. Click Start, Run, then type services.msc
2. Double click Messenger
3. Click Stop to close the service
4. Select Disabled from the Startup type list to prevent it from loading automatically the next time Windows starts.
5. Close the Services window.

A firewall may also aid in preventing the above, but it's still a good idea to turn off this "service".

Check the DANIMA site for a Tech Tips section in the next few months to find many common computer FAQ's. Feedback is always welcome - send an email to techtips@danima.com.

Until next time, some parting advice - defragmenting your hard drive on a regular basis helps your system run more smoothly.

    :: IDEASE GROUP HITS THEIR TARGET AT BUSINESS SHOW

    DANIMA News In early September, QS2 Promotions and DANIMA Technologies Inc. joined forces and merged their individual services and expertise under a new Marketing and Promotions umbrella - Idease Group (IG). The idea (or idease) was simple - to provide businesses with full service marketing from web site services and print materials, to promotional products, such as pens, clothing, and an endless array of unique items.

    Though not officially launched, the Idease Group made their first public appearance at the Niagara Falls Chamber of Commerce's Business show on October 8, 2003, quite successfully. With a target as the Idease Group indentifier, the creative minds at IG developed a metallic sign with the IG logo and a dart board image to display at the Business Show. With the allure of freshly brewed Espresso coming from the IG booth, interested visitors flocked to throw a dart at the target to try to win a variety of prizes that ranged from free web hosting, logo design, and logo digitization to IG's latest marketing materials including the much sought after IG Cappuccino cups!

    Though it was quite evident early in the event that the IG booth was going to be one of the busiest booths there was more to this creative idea than met the eye. The purpose of the dartboard was to drive more traffic to the IG booth. Once at the booth the friendly IG team ensured that every visitor left with IG materials and promotional products. A great Idease indeed (thanks Laura) exemplifying the creative ideas that the IG team can develop to help drive traffic to your web site and to your business. It's as simple as a dart board and the smell of freshly brewed Espresso!

    :: CLIENT'S CORNER - TRANSPORTATION SAFETY TRAINING

    TST Finds Success On The Web!
    -- by Carl Collucci DANIMA Technologies Inc.'s DANIMA News

    My business is Transportation Safety Training. I have been employed in the transportation industry for 24 years. In 1999 I became a Ministry Of Transportation Signing Authority and a certified Fleet Trainer. My portfolio of training services at this point included Commercial Defensive Driving, Airbrake Instructor, and Commercial Driver Training.

    Realizing the importance of the Occupational Health And Safety Act, the Highway Traffic Act, the Canada Labour Code and various other types of legislation, prompted me to attempt to bring the due diligence effort to the workplace by building a portfolio of instructional courses and offering them to the industry.

    Our most recent addition is our new Lift Truck Training course for beginners. Companies spend hundreds, or even thousands of dollars training staff, why not have the edge over the other applicants for a job by already being certified? We have received several requests to provide lift truck training for beginners. Good business practice is being able to provide the type of service that the customers request. Bases on this demand we have secured a warehouse and modern equipment in order to offer this service. Enough about TST (for now) for more information about TST please visit our website www.transportationsafety.ca.

    Let me talk a little about the importance of having a website....click here for the conclusion of Carl's article.

    :: MONTHLY MARKETING ARTICLE

    Monthly E-Marketing Article Consistent Marketing: A Good Idease!
    -- by David Rotella Jr.

    This month I want to touch on a subject that has driven me crazy since I've been involved with the web and that is the idea of consistent marketing. By consistent marketing I am referring to the marriage between your business' traditional marketing and your web marketing. Take a minute and think about all of your business' marketing materials. Does your brochure look anything like your website? Do your business cards have a different logo or color scheme than the rest of your marketing materials? I'm not saying that everything needs to be identical, but in order to brand your company or product, the public needs to see a consistency with all of your marketing materials.

    Let's quickly talk about branding. Here is a term that gets tossed around more than head lettuce at a backyard BBQ. So, what is this branding that we keep reading about? Is it just another E-buzz word that will disappear quicker than Kelly Osbourne's career? I don't think so. Here's my take on the subject.

    Branding has been around as long as products and services have been around. They've just recently slapped a title to it. Look back at old advertisements for Coke and Pepsi back in the 40's. The logos of these 2 products have barely changed. They've branded themselves into modern culture, just like Nike, McDonald's and IBM have done in the latter part of the past century.

    In today's competitive marketplace it is imperative that your brand identity be consistent. Branding is the sum total of all the images people have about a particular company or product. Hmmm, sound familiar? Though I've used those two lines quite a bit in the last several months promoting our new company - Idease Group - it is so true. Your brand identity is extremely important to the life of your business. Think in terms of Nike? Sure, you may not be as big as Nike (who is?) but they are the quintessential branding kings! With one little swoosh the entire globe knows that it is a Nike product. They don't even need to have the word Nike anywhere on their products. Just a swoosh. Why? Most importantly, through the years they were consistent in their marketing approach. In fact, they were calculated. They developed a brand identity that everyone recognized by getting their logo (the swoosh) in your face at every turn. When I was a child my father worked for Coke. We had Coca-Cola glasses, Coca-Cola watches, clocks, pens, albums, Christmas trays, ornaments...it was endless. That logo was indelibly etched in our minds. To this day, if you gave me a pad and pencil I could draw the logo by heart.

    That's branding and that's what even the smallest companies need to do (albeit on a smaller scale). Here at DANIMA we deal with any size business. When we develop their web site, the first thing we need from them is their logo and their colours. We need all their other marketing materials so we can create a web site that is consistent with their marketing scheme. After all, the web site is just another marketing tool. I'm always surprised when I see a company's logo in so many variations throughout different marketing pieces. How do you brand yourself when your logo looks different every time it appears (newsletters, ads, business cards)? Doesn't it make sense that your brochure, your business cards and web site have the same look and feel to them? You want the public to see a consistency in your marketing. That's branding, plain and simple - the sum total of all the images people have about a particular company or product. And no, it doesn't matter if you are a small business or Nike. It's all the same. People need to recognize your business and/or your product no matter how you are presenting it.

    And this is why DANIMA and QS2 came together and formed the Idease Group - one company that can produce all of your materials consistently. Your company logo or company colours will not get lost in the translation from the web designer to the printer or to the embroiderer. The Idease Group can ensure that all of your marketing materials have a similar look and feel. We can help brand your company. And best of all, we can help you bring the cost of this seemingly monumental task down and make it manageable for your company.

    So, what are you waiting for? Pull all of your marketing materials off the shelf and see how consistent they are. Is there a "marriage" between your web materials and the rest of your marketing materials? If not, feel free to contact us at solutions@ideasegroup.com. We'll be glad to help!
