Spyware, Adware - Am I being watched?
You may be, literally! Are you visiting legitimate web sites, when all of a sudden,
popup ads start filling up your computer? Are you being taken to sites other than the
one you've typed in your address bar? You may have spyware or adware installed on your
computer. Is this legal? Depending on whether you've agreed to it or not. Chances are,
you hadn't fully read & understood some site's privacy policy on which you agreed to their
terms. Now you have a piece of software on computer telling advertising agencies what
your surfing habits are (spyware). In turn, they flood you with advertising enticing you
to visit their clients' sites (adware).
Time to panic? Hardly. People often tell me that they have an anti-virus program that's
somewhat up to date, however, this has no effect on this particular problem. In fact, a
firewall may not even help. But there is a solution.
What you need is a spyware removal tool. There are many available and I won't recommend
one unless you ask me personally (techtips@danima.com).
These tools are effective at removing spyware. Before using one, make certain that it
displays what you are removing, and make certain you understand what you are removing.
You may inadvertantly remove something that may cause certain programs to stop working,
so proceed with caution.
And as always, make sure you've backed up all your important files before doing any
maintenance work on your computer. Until next time, happy surfing!

The Niagara Training and Adjustment Board (NTAB) is one of 21 local boards in the province of Ontario. NTAB's mandate is to identify issues pertaining to local labour force development and to forge community partnerships to address employment/training issues.
In February, DANIMA began working closely with NTAB Executive Director, Trudy Parsons to re-design their current web site. Now in the final testing phase of the new site, the DANIMA staff are adding the finishing touches to the French content, upgrading the Client Database Administration, and building the site's Content Management System. The crisp new look and easy-to-use navigation will make it easier to find the great information stored on the site.
Look for the new NTAB web site in the first week of May.

:: RUSTIC AND REFINED ON-LINE
|
|
Well, after months of planning Alexandra & Joe Catanzaro opened the E-doors to their brand new Home & Garden Decor business - Rustic and Refined.
Phase 1 of the web site was completed on April 14th, creating a web presence for the company and providing visitors with a snapshot of the array of home and garden products that Rustic & Refined has to offer. The new site also includes a detailed client database with email capabilities all in a password protected administrative area.
DANIMA and the Rustic team are excited about Phase 2 which will entail the production of a full on-line shopping system, as well as a Content Management System which will allow the staff at Rustic & Refined to dynamically make changes to their own site.

:: NIAGARA ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARDS 2005
|
|
The staff of the Idease Group (DANIMA & QS2) were recently awarded the contract to provide
all print materials, multi-media and web services for the Niagara Entrepreneur of the
Year Awards.
Over the next 10 months the Idease Group staff will produce brochures, advertisements,
sponsorship kits and other print materials for the program. In addition to the print
materials, Idease Group (DANIMA & QS2) will be providing web maintenance and updates,
along with creating a new on-line client database. On the evening of the award ceremony,
the Idease Group team will be taking care of all of the audio/visual and multi-media
presentations.
The Niagara Enterpreneur of the Year Awards will be held on February 19, 2005 at the

Jewel of Niagara's On-line Story

Although each member of Team Jewel has been involved in the transportation
industry for many years, five years ago we decided to unite and form our own company,
hence, the birth of “Jewel of Niagara Luxury Limousine Services”.
We had lots of great ideas and knew the “Golden Rule”.....know what your
customers will expect....make it better than that and “DELIVER”
That’s fine. We knew who they were. We knew what they expected. We knew we
could go the extra mile and we were totally committed to delivering without ever dropping
the ball. There we go. Create it and they will come. “WRONG”! We knew exactly who our
clients would be....they didn’t know that “Jewel” even existed!
Word of mouth can sometimes be a wonderful thing and this time was no exception.
We started asking all the necessary questions and the answers led us straight to DANIMA
Technologies. Jewel was in a world wide market and we needed world wide exposure.
What a novel idea....a company website. Sometimes you don’t see for looking. All those
great plans and no one knows about us but that was about to rapidly change!
A few meetings with Dave Rotella from DANIMA and we knew we had found the
missing piece to the plan. A site that would put Jewel on the road to success. The site was
jointly developed and then creatively built and launched by DANIMA. What a joy to work
with a group that have the same business philosophy as your own....know what the clients
expect...go the extra mile...deliver and never drop the ball! That’s exactly what we got!
Once the search engines found us, the inquiries started pouring in from all over the
world. The site is so effective we had to increase the size of the fleet to meet the demand. In
2004 Jewel is enjoying an amazing increase over 2003, on a consistent basis, due mostly to
the exposure the web site is providing. Without the site, our best laid plans would have
been for nothing and instead of being in grow mode, the company and all its dreams would
have ceased to exist.
Be warned though! You need more than just a site! You need experts that can
develop excellent sites that “work”. That is the key and DANIMA is the answer! The rest is
up to you!

Getting Your Marketing Needs Met

It's that time of year once again. The snow has finally melted, the spring flowers are pushing their way through the softening soil and the pile of junk at the curb, waiting for the next garbage day is a sure sign that spring cleaning has begun!
It seems in business we tend to do the same. Spring cleaning always seems to be inevitable. Regardless of the time of year, we give the office or shop a major overhaul only to discover at the same time it is time for a major re-order. What to re-order……there is that golf tournament coming up and we need those giveaways and clothing as soon as possible and that trade show that we signed up for last September is already here……we need some more brochures and business cards..….then there's that client and staff appreciation gift we've been talking about for the last 2 months.
There is just so much that needs to be taken care of. As we take care of the golf tournament needs we realize that our website should be updated to include the information about how to get tickets and we'd like the look of everything this year to be more consistent. There's so much to be done and only so much time.
The latest trend in marketing and promotions is one stop shopping. The idea is that you come in, meet with the right person and without aggravation, all of your needs are met. Web, print and promotions all at your fingertips and under one roof. The benefit of this type of shopping is you don't have to worry about gathering different artwork files for similar projects, and the artwork is very consistent. You can get the latest in promotional products for your next giveaway, your brochures updated all while your website receives a facelift. You receive less phone calls, faxes and emails, less trips to the supplier, less faces to deal with…….. it all makes perfect sense.
You may have already had a full service marketing experience. The key is SERVICE. The customer is able to take a few hours and accomplish several marketing goals at once. Another benefit of this full service type of marketing is the convenience of re-order. Whether it is print, web or promotions one phone call can usually cover it all.
So, whether you are just initiating a relationship with a marketing agency or if you're maintaining a previous one, full service marketing exists for you.
