Decrease Indent Decrease Indent & Increase Indent Increase Indent

This function moves the contents of a line in the Editor Workarea to the left if there is available space between the contents and the left margin of the Editor Workarea.

Example

  1. If you do not wish to use your website pages for testing you can visit http://www.ezeditor.net/ and click on the EZEDITOR DEMO page. Once there click the Login button to be logged in as Guest Administrator. After logging in click on the TEST AREA page then click the Edit button at the top of the page. Once the page reloads in Edit Mode you can move on to Step 6 and begin this exercise.


  2. If you wish to use your own website for testing then Login to your website as Administrator.


  3. Go to a page with eZ Editor installed.


  4. Do not save any of the changes you make while performing this exercise if you do not want to affect the current contents of the page you are using.


  5. Once logged in switch into Edit Mode on the page that you will be performing this exercise on.


  6. Copy and Paste or type the paragraph below into the Editor Workarea.
  7. Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.



  8. Highlight all of the text you just pasted or typed into the editor by placing your cursor before or after the word you wish to highlight. Hold down the left mouse button. Move the mouse left, right, up, or down until all the text is highlighted.
  9.  



  10. To increase the left margin of the text, with all of the text highlighted click the Increase Indent button on the editor toolbar 5 times. The text should be moving to the right with every click of the Increase Indent button.

  12. To decrease the left margin of the text, with all of the text highlighted click the Decrease Indent button on the editor toolbar 3 times. The text should be moving back to the left with every click of the Decrease Indent button.

    Increasing the Indent of Unordered Lists 

  1. When increasing the indent of an unordered list the bullets for the list change with every click of the Increase or Decrease Indent buttons as shown in the 3 screen shots below.

  2. Bullets start out as solid circles.

     


    Bullets change to empty circles after first click of Increase Indent button.

     


    Bullets change to squares after second click of Increase Indent button.

     

  3. To avoid this do the following when increasing the indent of Unordered Lists.


  4. Create an ordered list like the list shown below.
  5.  



  6. Place your cursor directly after the text of the first line in the list.
  7.  



  8. Hit the enter button once. The editor will create a new empty list line.
  9.  



  10. Press the backspace button on your keyboard once to delete the bullet on the new line.
  11.  



  12. Highlight all of the text in the unordered list.
  13.  



  14. Increase the indent of the list by clicking the Increase Indent button 5 times.
  15.  



  16. Once again place your cursor directly after the text of the first line in the list.
  17.  



  18. Press the delete button on your keyboard once to delete the empty line in the unordered list.
